A recent scam led to at least one person being defrauded of more than $9,000USD in Canada. The crime was reported to police on Mar 4, 2021.
While browsing a retail site a pop up alerted that there was a problem with their computer and they needed to contact Microsoft for assistance. The person called the number on the screen and was defrauded of about $9,500USD.
Should you come across a similar situation, contact your IT support team first.
